Lisa Reaches New Heights in Munro Challenge

Lisa Clarke, one of our carers from the Borders, has got the Munro bagging bug and has just recently climbed her 29th Munro!

We spoke to Lisa to find out more about this amazing physical feat and why she took up the challenge…

Congrats on your 29th Munro! Can you tell us a wee bit about your Munro challenge?

“My husband and I started doing Munros in June last year. We have more time off together these days and we’ve always wanted to climb as many as we can.

I’ve bagged 29 Munros so far. It’s a great way of trying to keep fit!”

When did you complete your first Munro?

“My first ever Munro was back in 2013 when we climbed Ben Lomond, but I really got the Munro bagging bug in June 2021.”

What is the most challenging Munro you have done?

“My most challenging to date was Glas Maol 6 in September which is about 18 miles.

This includes climbing up 6 Munros. I pulled my groin on the 3rd one and kept going. It took 10 hours to complete but it felt amazing to complete it.”

Do you have a favourite Munro?

“I would say my favourite was going up the Buachaille Etive Mòr in Glencoe. It’s a scramble up the gully. It’s my favourite mountain in Scotland – it’s beautiful.”
